Multiple sets, multiple possibilities……
January 10, 2008
I just did some internal housekeeping using hpt.com’s little tournament chip calculator spreadsheet…
Given our group’s typical size of 6-10 players at a time, I have always worked with a single table tournament chip distribution.
We have used a T 1500 style as well as a T5000 style, depending on the value of the first denomination.
I love the T100 denomination, and my sets usually try to work around the T100 as the workhorse or the ’special’ chip.
The T1500 tournament setup has 4 out of the total distribution of 37 chips as T100’s. It’s a precious chip and garners attention when thrown into the pot. (someone usually yells out ‘Hyundai!’ Don’t ask). (10 T5, 22 T25, 4 T100, 1 T500) The Caesars Tahoe set is used for the T 1500 as I only have a rack of the charcoal grey chips for the T100…
The T5000 tournament setup uses 22 T100’s as a middle denom, so it’s less precious, but is most definitely front and center through the majority of the game due to the workhorse nature of the second denomination. (12 T25, 22 T100, 5 T500) I used to have two racks of black secondary St Jo $100 chips. Main reason this T100 interest started… and the main workhorse for the T5000 setup… I miss them.
Notice I like to use 22 of the second denom as opposed to just 12 and more of the third as it makes it look like a much bigger stack and therefore, more play and bigger pots… Fun fun.
EDIT: I just got another setup, and it looks like this one will support a tourney for up to 10 people, but given our usual 8, I think the next time we play, I’ll try a T7500, using 16 T25’s, 21 T100’s, 6 T500’s and 2 T1000’s and start the blinds at 25/50. (100 times the blinds. Let’s see if we can make it a skill test instead of a “baby ace, I’m good fest…)
